According to the Bible, Jacob (also known as Israel) died at the age of 147. This is explicitly stated in Genesis 47:28: "Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years, and the length of his life was 147 years." He had moved to Egypt at age 130 (Genesis 47:9) to reunite with his son Joseph during the famine and spent his final 17 years there.

24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
*Sermon:* Beloved, today i want to speak to you from the depths of God's Word on a truth that has transformed countless lives: travailing to prevail. In other for you to enter the realm of great achievements you need to travail to prevail. In a world full of battles—spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational—we are called not to passive prayer, but to fervent, earnest prayer/intercession that births victory. The Bible declares in James 5:16 that "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." That word "fervent" speaks of intensity, of passion, of travailing like a woman in labor until something is birthed into existence.
What does it mean to travail? Travail is not casual whispering; it is agonizing, persistent wrestling in the spirit. It is prayer that groans, that weeps, that refuses to let go until God's promise breaks through. Like childbirth, it involves pain, but oh, the joy that follows! The Scripture asks in Isaiah 66:8, "Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children." Revival, breakthrough, and new life come not by ease, but by travailing prayer. In Genesis 32:24-28. Here we find Jacob, alone by the brook Jabbok, wrestling with a Man until the breaking of day. This was no ordinary struggle—it was Jacob travailing for his destiny. He had deceived, he had fled, but now he contended for blessing. The Man touched his hip, dislocating it, yet Jacob cried, "I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." And God renamed him Israel, saying, "For as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed." Jacob travailed through the night, and he prevailed at dawn. You may be travailing in prayers now, but your prevailing season is around. Your dawn will surely come. Hosea 12:4 adds that he "wept, and made supplication"—tears and cries marked his prayer but at last, he rejoiced.

4. I release the fire of God to consume every demonic barrier blocking my entrance into divine victory and abundance.
5. I overthrow every satanic stronghold erected to prevent my season of prevailing from manifesting in my life.
6. I bind and cast down every principality and power working to keep me in the wilderness; this month I step into my promised land.
7. I declare that the gates of my prevailing season are open wide, and no enemy can shut them against me.
8. I wage war against every spirit of fear and doubt, i command them to flee as I embrace bold faith for my breakthrough.
9. I invoke the blood of Jesus to silence every accuser of my destiny and clear the path to my prevailing era.
10. I destroy every evil altar speaking against my elevation, and I ascend into my season of dominion and success.
11. I command angelic warriors to arise and fight on my behalf, i command them to enforce my victory in this new season.
12. I reject and renounce every curse of failure; I activate blessings of prevailing grace over my life.
13. I pull down every high thing exalting itself against my knowledge of God's promises for my prevailing season.
14. I declare war on every hidden enemy in my foundation, uprooting them to make way for my triumphant entry.
15. I release confusion into the camp of my adversaries, and i cause them to turn against each other as I prevail.
16. I command every closed door of opportunity to burst open, father usher me into realms of unprecedented favor.
17. I bind the spirit of backwardness and propel myself forward into accelerated progress and prevailing power.
18. I overthrow every monitoring spirit tracking my progress; their eyes are blinded as I enter my season unseen by evil.
19. I declare that every weapon formed against my prevailing season shall not prosper; i command it to backfire with immediate effect.
20. I activate the anointing of conquest, i trample over scorpions and serpents that resist my breakthrough.

22. I wage warfare against every spirit of poverty and lack, i enforce wealth and abundance in my new season.
23. I seal my declarations with the authority of heaven, as i step boldly into my prevailing season with total victory and glory.
