Matthew 2:19-21

19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.

21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

*Sermon:* Herod was a strongman who never wanted another rival, the strongman may appear whenever they perceive you to be a rival - i remember a young man who was in a courtship with a lady, he was attacked almost every night by a spirit that claimed that he was married to this lady, the spirit would often come as a giant pouncing on him till he wakes up in freight, all these happened because the strongman perceived him to be a rival. You can start a new business and the strongman in the lives of other business men and women see you as a rival, this was the case with Herod, though he was aged saw a rival in an helpless little Child, he ordered that all children under the age of two should be killed, Herod was said to be ruthless, he was documented to have killed his own sons (Antipater, Alexander and Aristobulus) when he perceived them as threats to his throne, as recounted in the compendium Saturnalia (compiled by Macrobius) that Augustus remarked "It is better to be Herod's pig than his son. and eliminated an entire council of the Sahendrin. Herod hid under the cloak of religious piety to find out where Jesus was from the wise men, he lied that he also wanted to worship the new born saviour Matt 2:7-8 "7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also." The strongman can hide using the veil of religion just to strike his target, Absalom also lied that he was going to make a vow just so he can form an alliance to overthrow his father David. 2 Sam 15:7-8 "7 And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the Lord, in Hebron.

8 For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the Lord shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve the Lord." Do not be decieved by what camouflage the strongman is hiding under 2 Cor 11:14 "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." Jesus Christ was met with battles from infant albeit he overcame all obstacles, this same Herod died while Jesus was in Egypt (The strongman died) Matt 2:19-20 "19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life." It seems from the Scripture we can deduce that those after the baby Jesus life were numerous when it says in verse 20b "...for they are dead which seek the young Child's life" the word "they" means it was not just Herod who sought to take him out, the Bible says in (John 1:11) "He came to his own and they received him not." Many times, those who are nearest to the means are furthest from the end, although the jews were his own people they did not receive him.

12. Every strongman assigned to drive me away from my purpose, dreams and goals I command you to die in the name of Jesus

13. Every strongman ruling over my family i command you to die in the name of Jesus

14. I neutralize the power of the strongman and I command the strongman to be incapacitated in the name of Jesus

15. Every strongman that say I will not live to fulfill the number of my days and even if I do it will be in hardship and sorrow will die before the end of today
