In the context of Genesis 5:29 (KJV), Noah’s father, Lamech, named him, saying, “This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.” The name reflects the hope that Noah would bring relief or rest from the hardships of a fallen world.

“And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.”

Beloved in Christ, today we gather to reflect on the theme, “Favoured in the Tenth Month,” drawing inspiration from Genesis 8:5. This verse comes from the story of Noah, a man who found favor with God in a time of great judgment. As we stand in this tenth month of the year, October, let us explore how God’s favor can manifest in our lives, bringing hope, restoration, and new beginnings, just as it did for Noah when the waters receded and the tops of the mountains were seen.
1. The Context of God’s Favor
In Genesis 8, the world had been submerged under the floodwaters of God’s judgment. Yet, Noah, a righteous man, found favor with God (Genesis 6:8). While the world faced destruction, Noah and his family were preserved in the ark. By the tenth month, as Genesis 8:5 tells us, the waters had decreased, and the mountain tops became visible—a sign of hope, a glimpse of dry ground, and a promise of new beginnings.
This teaches us that God’s favor does not mean the absence of storms, but the assurance of His presence and protection through them. The tenth month was a turning point for Noah, a moment when God’s faithfulness began to reveal itself in a tangible way. Likewise, in this tenth month, God’s favor can bring you out of your flood, exposing new possibilities and uncovering what was hidden by life’s challenges.

The tenth month in Noah’s story marked the completion of a season of waiting and the beginning of restoration. For us, October, the tenth month of 2025, can be a season where God completes what He has started in your life. Philippians 1:6 reminds us, “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
The appearance of the mountain tops in Genesis 8:5 was a sign that the waters were no longer in control—God was. In this tenth month, God’s favor can cause the floods of financial struggle, health challenges, or broken relationships to recede. What was submerged in your life—your dreams, your peace, your purpose—can begin to surface as God’s favor takes over.

22. I declare victory over every spiritual battle waged against my favor and breakthrough, for I am more than a conqueror through Christ, in Jesus’ name.
