Compromise is spiritual paralysis. You can’t run to God when you’re limping between altars.
1 Kings 18:21
“How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.”
*Sermon:* At the contest of mount Carmel, Elijah stands on one side alone, outnumbered 850 to 1. On the other side, 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah, screaming, cutting themselves, dancing from morning till evening. And in the middle? The people of God, silent. Double-minded. Limping between two altars.
That is the picture of too many lives today.
You have an altar to Jesus on Sunday morning,
and an altar to Baal the rest of the week:
An altar of ungodly things on your phone
An altar of bitterness in your heart
An altar of greed on your bank statement
An altar of witchcraft and divination in your search history
An altar of fear that you bow to every night
And heaven is asking you the same question Elijah asked Israel:
“How long will you limp between two opinions?”
Elijah did not negotiate with evil altars.
He did not dialogue with them.
He did not say, “Let’s coexist.”
He said, “Let the God who answers by fire be God!”
And beloved, when the fire of God falls, every counterfeit altar is turned to ashes!
Look at what Elijah did to destroy evil altars:
He Confronted the Compromise (v. 21)
He didn’t whisper. He thundered!
Compromise is spiritual paralysis. You can’t run to God when you’re limping between altars.
Today the Spirit is confronting every secret altar in your life. Name it. Expose it. Stop hiding it.
He Repaired the Broken Altar of the Lord (v. 30)
Before fire falls on Baal’s altar, Elijah rebuilds what Israel had torn down.
Twelve stones—one for every tribe.
He is saying: “We are coming back into covenant!”
Some of you need to repair your prayer altar.
Your family altar. Your consecration altar.
You can’t call fire on Baal if your own altar is in ruins!
He Saturated His Sacrifice with Water (v. 33–35)
Twelve barrels of water—three times poured.
He made it humanly impossible!
When you soak your life in obedience, in the Word, in prayer, in fasting,
you are saying, “God, even if it looks impossible, let Your fire fall!”
He Prayed a Dangerous Prayer (v. 36–37)
“Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel… Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that You are God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
That is not a polite prayer. That is a prayer that puts God’s reputation on the line!
And then… THE FIRE FELL! (v. 38)
“Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and it even licked up the water that was in the trench.”
As you Pray these Prayer points today every altar of Baal erected contesting with the altar of God in your life will be destroyed in the name of Jesus

2. Every ancestral altar speaking against my destiny, I command you to collapse by thunder in Jesus’ name!
3. Every marine altar where my glory has been tied, receive the judgment of fire and release me now!
4. Every satanic priest ministering on evil altars against my life, somersault and die by fire!
5. Altars of anger, bitterness, immorality, and lust erected in my heart and mind, be uprooted and consumed by the fire of the Holy Ghost!
6. Every altar of fear, unbelief, and doubt competing with my faith in God, be demolished by the earthquake of the Lord!
7. Altars of greed, covetousness, and love of money raised in my soul, I overthrow you by the blood of Jesus!
8. Every family idol, shrine, or evil dedication speaking against my salvation, be shattered to pieces in Jesus’ name!
9. Altars of bitterness, unforgiveness, and hatred in my heart, be swallowed by the fire of God now!
10. Every occult altar where my name is being mentioned for evil, let the angels of war overturn you today!
11. Altars of addiction—alcohol, drugs, gambling, masturbation—be set ablaze by the consuming fire of God!
12. Every altar of pride and self-worship erected in my life, be pulled down by the mighty hand of God!
13. Altars of witchcraft, divination, and false prophecy speaking over my life, be silenced forever by fire!
14. Every hidden altar in my foundation drinking my blood and eating my blessings, vomit them and burn to ashes!
15. Altars of delay, stagnation, and near-success syndrome raised against me, I command you to scatter by fire!
16. Every territorial altar resisting my breakthrough, let the sword of the Lord cut you to pieces!
17. Altars of sickness and infirmity competing with my divine health, be consumed by the fire that cannot be quenched!
18. Every altar of marital problems, delay and disappointment, catch fire and release my marriage in Jesus’ name!
19. Altars of poverty and financial bondage erected by household wickedness, be demolished by the hammer of God!
20. Every altar of false religion and tradition blocking my access to the true God, be uprooted sevenfold in Jesus’ name!
21. I recover everything that evil altars have stolen from my life sevenfold, according to Proverbs 6:31, in Jesus’ name!
22. O God of Elijah, arise! Let Your fire fall and consume every competing altar in my life, family, and destiny until only the altar of Jehovah remains standing, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
23. Every altar of Baal demanding my worship, attention, and affection, catch fire and be roasted to ashes now in the name of Jesus!
