Heb 12:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God
*Did you know ?*
The fastest-growing Christian movement in the world right now is the Iranian underground church—mostly converts from Islam meeting in house churches despite intense persecution.
*Quote of the Day*
So, dear sufferer, weary pilgrim, battered soldier—**keep going**.
The night is far gone; the day is at hand.
Your Captain has already won the victory, and He will not lose one soldier entrusted to Him.
*Sermon:* Good day beloved, today we mark 5 years of praying online, one virtue that has helped us through the years is Perseverance, it is the most stubborn, beautiful, and necessary virtues in the Christian life. The Bible does not merely encourage it; it commands it. It does not treat it as optional equipment for super-saints; it presents it as the very evidence that we belong to Christ. This December and beyond you will need this virtue.
In Heb 12:1-2 we notice three things
1. **This is a race.**
Life is not a sprint; it is a marathon with hills, mud, blisters, and sometimes detours. Anyone who tells you the Christian life is one unbroken victory lap has not read the book or walked the road.
2. **We are commanded to run with endurance.**
The Greek word is *hypomonē*—a compound of “under” and “remain.” It means to stay under the load, to remain when every fiber of your body screams “quit.” Perseverance is not the absence of pain; it is the refusal to let pain have the final word.
3. **We do not run alone, and we do not run in our own strength.**
We look to Jesus. He is both the pioneer who blazed the trail and the perfecter who will carry us across the finish line. He endured the cross. If the sinless Son of God had to endure, how much more do we, who still battle indwelling sin?
i.*The Promise: True believers persevere**
Jesus said in John 10:28–29, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” The doctrine the old saints called “the perseverance of the saints” is not that Christians never stumble, but that those whom God truly saves, He keeps. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in you to will and to work until the Day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
**II. The Pattern: Jesus persevered for us**
Hebrews 12:2 says He “endured the cross, despising the shame.” The word “despising” does not mean He mocked the shame; it means He treated the shame as unworthy of comparison to the joy set before Him—your redemption and mine. When you are tempted to give up because of mockery, betrayal, chronic pain, or unanswered prayer, look again at the Man who was spat upon, stripped naked, and nailed to a Roman cross, yet never opened His mouth in self-pity. He persevered, and because He did, there is now a throne for Him and a crown for you.
*The Prize*
Listen to the voice of the risen Christ in Revelation 3:21:
**“The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.”**
One day the struggle will be over. The cancer will be healed—either in resurrection glory or by resurrection power. The prodigal will come home or we will go home to the Father who waits with open arms. The marriage that seems beyond repair will either be restored by grace or we will be perfected in love that never ends. The tears will be wiped away, and the crown of life will be placed on the head of every single one who did not quit.
So, dear sufferer, weary pilgrim, battered soldier—**keep going**.
The night is far gone; the day is at hand.
Your Captain has already won the victory, and He will not lose one soldier entrusted to Him.
Run with endurance.
Fight the good fight.
Finish the race.
Keep the faith.
NB: Fasting starts from 1st-7th Dec. Break by 3pm your time
Prayer points
1. Father, I thank You for the gift of salvation, for calling me into Your eternal purpose, and for the grace already given to me to endure to the end. I magnify You because You who began the good work in me will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
2. I put on the full armor of God and stand firm against every spirit of weariness, discouragement, and quitting assigned against my life in Jesus’ name.
3. Every demonic wind blowing to make me faint in the day of adversity, be silenced by the voice of the Lord in Jesus’ name.
4. I bind and cast out the spirit of sluggishness and spiritual slumber from my life; I receive fresh fire to run and not be weary in Jesus’ name.
5. Let every arrow of distraction, procrastination, and double-mindedness fired against my focus be destroyed by the blood of Jesus.
6. O Lord, strengthen my inner man with might by Your Spirit so that Christ may dwell richly in my heart and I may be rooted and grounded in love and perseverance (Ephesians 3:16-17).
7. I decree that my feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; I will not stumble, I will not fall, I will not turn back in Jesus’ name.
8. Father, surround me with songs of deliverance and shield me from every lying spirit that whispers “it’s too hard” or “it’s not worth it.”
9. I overthrow every satanic roadblock mounted on my path of destiny to make me give up halfway in Jesus’ name.
10. Let the spirit of fear, doubt, and unbelief that weakens perseverance be uprooted from my heart right now by the fire of the Holy Ghost.
11. I receive the anointing of the overcomer; like Caleb and Joshua, I refuse to be grasshopper-minded. I will possess my possession!
12. Every ancestral or generational curse of starting strong and finishing weak, break by the power in the blood of Jesus.
13. O God of Elijah, send chariots of fire to clear every obstacle on my way to the finish line in Jesus’ name.
14. I declare that the joy of the Lord is my strength; depression and heaviness have no place in me (Nehemiah 8:10).
15. Holy Spirit, breathe upon me afresh; renew my strength like the eagle’s so I will run and not grow weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
16. I frustrate every demonic prophecy, dream, or prediction that says I will not finish strong in Jesus’ name.
17. Father, let Your abiding presence be my daily portion so that I may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not fear; I will not quit.”
18. I command every Goliath of intimidation standing before my breakthrough to fall and die in Jesus’ name.
19. Let the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead quicken my mortal body and sustain my zeal until I cross the finish line.
20. I decree and declare that no weapon formed against my perseverance shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against my endurance is condemned (Isaiah 54:17).
21. Lord Jesus, Author and Finisher of my faith, perfect everything that concerns my ability to endure to the end (Hebrews 12:2).
22. I receive grace upon grace to fight the good fight, finish my course, and keep the faith until I obtain the crown of righteousness laid up for me (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
23. Father, in the name of Jesus, I seal every prayer with the blood of the Lamb and declare: I shall not fail, I shall not faint, I shall not fall—I will persevere and succeed gloriously for Your glory!
