*Did you know?*

In **Psalm 136**, the phrase "for his mercy endureth forever" is repeated in every single one of its 26 verses. In the original Hebrew, the word for mercy used here is *chesed*, which represents God's covenant love, loyal kindness, and relentless fidelity. The structural repetition wasn't just poetic; it was liturgical and strategic. The ancients understood that by anchoring every historical fact of deliverance to His *chesed*, they were binding their past, present, and future to an unchanging legal reality in the spirit. When you repeat this truth today, you are enforcing that same covenant love over your life, declaring that no matter what changes, His *chesed* remains constant.

**Sermon:**

We are positioning ourselves in a posture of radical gratitude today as we dive into **The Foundations of Covenant Praise.** It is so easy to let the noise of unanswered requests drown out the beautiful symphony of God's constant faithfulness.

**Psalm 136:1-5 (KJV)**

*"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth forever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth forever. To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth forever. To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth forever."*

True thanksgiving begins when you command your soul to look backward with gratitude so your faith can look forward with confidence. Notice how the Psalmist calls us to a public, vocal, and joyful acknowledgment of God—He commands us to give thanks to the Sovereign King who stands supreme over every other power. The soul can be forgetful, easily weighed down by modern anxieties, current pressures, and daily struggles. But when you pull back the curtain of memory, you realize that the only reason you survived the storms of yesterday is because the Lord was your anchor.

He is the God of gods and the Lord of lords; everything in creation bows to His authority. He is the mastermind who by divine wisdom stretched out the heavens and continues to perform great wonders on our behalf. Today, we are not coming to ask for anything; we are coming to appreciate everything. We are throwing a massive praise party at the altar of thanksgiving, declaring that the God who brought us safely to this 22nd day of May is more than capable of handling the rest of our year!

1. Heavenly Father, I lift my voice to give You thanks today because You are fundamentally good, and Your covenant mercy over my life endures forever.

2. Lord, thank You for this beautiful day, May 22, 2026. Thank You for Your grace that woke me up this morning and Your mercy that shields my going out and coming in.

6. Father, thank You for the divine wisdom by which You created the heavens and by which You direct my path, steps, and decisions daily.

7. Lord, I thank You because Your track record is flawless. I praise You for Your goodness that runs after me and sustains me through every shifting season.

8. Father, thank You for Your everlasting mercy. Thank You that when I fail, Your *chesed* steps in to restore, qualify, and lift me up again.

9. I praise You for Your unchanging truth. Thank You that Your promises endure to all generations, meaning my children and grandchildren are secure in Your word.

10. Father, thank You for the battles You fought for me in secret that I knew absolutely nothing about. Thank You for giving me victories I didn't even have to fight for.

11. Lord, I praise You for the doors You closed out of mercy to protect me, and for the massive doors of opportunity You have swung wide open for my sake.

12. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of family, destiny helpers, and faithful friends who surround my life with love and support.

13. Father, I thank You for the grace of spiritual growth, for keeping my altar on fire, and for sustaining my hunger for Your presence.

14. I give You praise for financial preservation. Thank You for stretching my resources and frustrating the spirit of the devourer over my income.

15. Lord, thank You for the peace that passes all human understanding that guards my heart and mind against anxiety and panic.

16. Father, I thank You because You have never failed, You cannot fail, and I know my future is completely secure in Your hands.

17. I praise You for the delay that was actually a divine protection, and for Your perfect timing that makes all things beautiful in my life.

18. Father, thank You for the joy of salvation and the beautiful hope of eternity that anchors my soul through every shifting season of life.

19. I command every spirit of heavyheartedness, murmuring, and complaints to pack its bags and leave my life right now by fire. I receive the garment of praise!

20. Lord, let my gratitude today rise up to Your throne as a sweet-smelling sacrifice, opening up the windows of heaven over my life like never before.

21. I decree that because my heart is full of thanksgiving, my basket will always be full of blessings, and my mouth will forever overflow with testimonies.

22. Holy Spirit, keep my heart perpetually tuned to the frequency of gratitude, never letting me take the daily miracles of God for granted.
